I would advise people to be very wary of Netconf on traditional IOS. 
I've crashed multiple boxes, multiples times, doing trivial queries.

Additionally there is very scanty support for XML formatting of CLI 
output (which in any event, uses a sort of router-side expect-to-xml 
nonsense, and tends to break on "unusual" output).

Frankly, Cisco suck for automation.
