Hi James,

there are only 1M labels, because its a 20-bit value. This is a protocol limitation, you cannot go further with MPLS.

Means you cannot and should not assign a label per global ipv4 prefix, because you are going to run out of labels eventually. Use per-vrf or per-ce label instead.

Trident scales to 256k labels, all further generations scale up to the protocol limit 1M [1].
