I believe the 48 port 10G model with the 40 gig fixed uplinks is not stackable

It has a 640 gig backplane.

I have deployed Catalyst 3850s stacked 2-4 high as core/aggregation switches. No problems.

Hi Rob,

did you receive any feedback?
We are planning to deploy our first pair of 3850-XS unit in a few months.
Those are only supported from IOS-XE 3.7 train. Let's hope software quality is ok...
