[cisco-voip] 911

Cisco recommends using a more specific pattern for 9.911 and 911 calls and marking these routes as Urgent routes. This will prevent any overlapping dial plan from interfering with emergency calls. By using more specific patterns you can treat them differently, i.e. different external calling masks, different route lists (perhaps some copper after PRIs), etc. From what I understandy, CER (Cisco Emergency Responder) will want to use these seperate route patterns as well.

Also, if you already have 9.@ router pattern set up, you don't need any new route patterns at all if all non-voip calls go through the Centrex, and your traditional phones can also dial either 9911 or 911 to access emergency services.

There are a couple of ways to do this.
1) Handle this in CCM. Create a route pattern, 911 then set the prefix digits to 9. The call will be routed as 9911
2) If you are running an IOS H323 gateway you can configure a dial-peer to match 911 and prefix the 9 to send the call to the telco as 9911.

Could someone help me set up 911 dialing. My system is tied to the local phone companys Centrex for 4 digit dialing. We use one nine as our outside line number. I set up a route pattern for 9.911 that works but how do I set it up so someone can call only 911 and tell it to actually dial 9.911. Thank you for your help, you guys have saved me a lot of time in the past!!!

To err is human, to really foul things up requires a computer.
