The "pop it out, pop it in" works as far as the mirror is concerned, but
there's no guarantee of the popped-out disk's integrity. If you want to use
it as a backup, shut the system down first, _then_ pop it out. Reboot with
the mirror, then insert the new drive and let the mirror rebuild. (Same
procedure you use to provide a reversion disk for an upgrade.)
