Yes that is what was happening.  After I upgraded the publisher I had to
run the AD plugin on the publisher.  Reboot the publisher. Then run the
CCMPWDChanger utility and update the passwords.  I could then upgrade
the subscriber.

Jim,

 

When you were trying to upgrade your CM Cluster to 4.1 was the upgrade
failing on the subscriber shortly after the upgrade utility said it was
upgrading the the DC Directory? I am unable to upgrade my subscriber to
4.1 and am also using the AD plugin. 

 

I am thinking that this is the same issue, to clarify your corrected it
by re-installing the Directory Plugin on the publisher?

  I just upgraded to CCM 4.1.  The upgrade went well except for 1 issue.
We use AD integration and I have to reinstall the plugin on the
publisher before I could upgrade the subscriber.  I searched through all
the bugs reported in 4.1 and it was very confusing. I found a level 1
bug that would have been a show stopper for me.  In doing more research
the bug was introduced after the initial release of 4.1.  There are
other issues that are fixed in ES06 but in my testing I couldn't
reproduce the issues in my environment. So at this time I have not
installed any ES.
