The best option is to go from 3.3.3 to 4.0.1 to 4.1.2. You can skip the
service releases and I know it can be done because I did this in my lab.
You must upgrade the Subscribers as well because every time you upgrade
a CallManager from a different version, it updates the database. For
example, you may be on CCM0300 now, after you upgrade to 4.0.1, it will
be CCM0301, and after 4.1.2, it will be CCM0302. Database
synchronization is the most important piece of the Publisher and
Subscriber relationship and you shouldn't try to break it during an
upgrade. It may seem like a long upgrade, but actually it's not too
bad.

You won't be able to avoid doing the subscriber after each publisher
upgrade. You can however go from 3.3.3 -> 4.02a (if you have the
disks), and skip the service releases.

We want to go from 3.3(3) to 4.1(2), which really could involve a
3.3(3)->4.0(1)->4.0(1)sr2a->4.0(2a)->4.0(2a)sr1a->4.1(2) chain. I'd
like to shorten the process by
a) not installing the interim service releases, and
b) ignoring the subscriber altogether until the publisher is up to
4.1(2), then simply building a new 4.1(2) subscriber and linking it up.
Service interruption is not a problem.
Any thoughts/wisdom/comments/advice?
