1. Our hardware vendors include it, so rather than stripping it and 
making a custom platform, we leave it.
2. L1/L2 redundancy.   In the HPQ servers with teaming drivers, 
configure the NICs as a teaming pair and plug them into 2 different 
switches.

Enabling the 2nd NIC as a separate NIC will definitely break things.
