[cisco-voip] PBX<-> VGW

I currently have a PBX <--> PRI <--> 2600 VGW with HDV.

It was originally setup using H323 and Qsig.

The PBX currently has three PRI's to the PSTN, and is configured with
5ESS.

Is there any reason I can not setup the VGW to be a network side 5ESS?
Should that work?

I really don't understand why I have to use Qsig.  Can anyone explain
that to me?

PS.  My whole deal is I want to use MGCP rather then h323.  The config
is getting huge with the slow transfer of Digital phones to IP Phones.
