That's the only difference. The "G" stands for Global, instead of using
English words for the buttons they started using icons.

What's the difference with these that I should care about?  We intend to 
use the phones in the UK where we have already 7960s working without a 
hitch.  I'm buying a boat load used, and the 7960s are much cheaper than 
7960Gs so I would like to know what I'm missing.
All I can tell from Cisco's site is that the 
messages/directories/services/settings buttons now have icons instead of 
text.
