Absolutely 100% not TAC supported. The hostname of the server is buried
in quite a few places within the SQL database and in various .ini files
throughout the system and as such there is no easy way to change it
everywhere.
If you want to try it in the lab then go for it (I'd suggest pulling a
hard drive first). If you can get it to work then more power to ya.
Don't ever migrate that server's data to your production cluster
though.
So short answer is no, if you want to change hostnames you need to
reinstall from the OS up and reconfigure everything by hand (or with
BAT).

--- Question to group ---
Have CCM 4-1-2 in lab. One of our engineers responsible for the lab
assigned a silly – long computer name under win2000 to the CCM server
in his lab and now wants to change it to something more sensible. Is
there a simple process to get CCM running smoothly again after changing
the computer name assigned under windows.
I found a couple of documents talking about the steps to ensue a
healthy CCM server after changing the IP address but could not find
anything for changing the computer name on CCO. I know as a last resort
one has to re-install CCM software but was hoping there is a simple
less time consuming way.
thanks
