[cisco-voip] TTY Solutions

I think it would be best to use a DID - I'm not sure if you could transfer. There is a free relay service, but I think that is for a TTY user speaking to a non-TTY user and the operator does the talking.

Now, that being said, I know that Unity has a TTY angel that allows you to convert text to the baud tones. So if you had numerous TTYs on-site, you could possibly set up an autoattendant for TTYs and then have them enter the extension to be transferred - I think that should work.

So do you just connect the TTY device to an ATA or VGXXX and publish that number as the TTY number in the phone book?

What happens if someone calls your main number? Can you transfer the call to the TTY extension?

  Thanks-

Currently, we have them put a request to our local LEC/PSTN carrier. They get long distance at half price and are assured of connectivity during a power outage. I tested the new and old TTY devices on both the ATA and VG248 without a problem. However, we might move this to our emergency PBX so that they will always have connectivity.

How do the rest of you handle TTY requests?
