This sounds like more work than I am interested in. Is there a better
Video conference option to use with the 3511?
Anyone have experience with the Tandberg?
Thanks,
Avidan

We have the polycom sp and it does NOT have an interface with CM. you
will most likely have to use the MCU to connect to a CM video conference
via a gatekeeper.
Some MCU do have a built in Gatekeeper. I suggest just getting your
self an old 26xx series router and the IP Plus IOS and doing it with one
of these.
The MCU will just be a e.164 off the gatekeeper. Each h323 video unit
will just dial the e164 to get into the conference.
Just as an FYI you will most likely have to exchange gatekeeper info
with other company's if you are plan to have them dial into your
conferences.

I intend on doing multi-point conferencing. Right now, I just have a
Viewstation EX, so I only do point-to-point conferences with other
companies. I am putting in an order for a 3511 and 2 more video
conference cameras, so my 2 biggest branch offices. I am hoping to have
a 3-way video conference happening by the end of January. However, I am
having a very hard time just connecting my Polycom Viewstation to
CallManager. Is it even connectable? It seems the viewstation only has a
"gatekeeper" IP setting for what I assume will be the IP of the 3511.
Where do I set the IP of CallManager on this polycom?
Thanks,
Avidan

We currently have a couple of Polycoms but will be getting a Tandberg
shortly. Both seem to be good. It really comes down to features. I'm
hoping I can get rid of the old Vtel units we have soon. Stay away from
VTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice thing with the Tandberg we demo'd the other day is it can register
directly with CM.

I am planning to setup a 3511 IP/VC to handle 4 branch offices and their
video conference needs. I currently have a Polycom Viewstation EX, but
with the upcoming IP/VC installation, I didnt know if buying 3 more of
those was the right idea. What is everyone using out there for video
conferencing with their IP/VC? Tandbergs? Polycoms? Does getting
MeetingPlace really help in small conferences?
thanks for the advice.
