Is anyone using Unity for a fax solution? Specifically Unity Voice Mail only? I have a customer that is looking into doing this. I have not seen this done before and wondered if anyone has been successful with it? Here is what was sent to me by Cisco. If anyone has done this is there any documents on it?
thanks,
JD

(Q)Can Unity support inbound and outbound fax in a VM environment or does it have to be UM?
(A) Unity will support both inbound and outbound in a VM or UM environment, licensing does not matter.
(Q)How are new faxes viewed in a VM only environment?
(A) Through the TUI, faxes can be delivered to a fax machine. This fax machine destination is set up on Unity and can be defined on a per user basis or groups of users allowing for different sites to have different fax destinations. Also, users do have the ability at the time of selecting the option to print to a fax machine to change the destination fax machine number. If Unity inbox is being used users can open the .tif file and print to any printer their computer is attached to.
(Q)How does inbound fax work?
(A) T.37 IOS gateway forwards incoming fax to dedicated fax mailbox on Unity. Unity fax rendering engine scans that mailbox for inbound faxes renders to a .tif and delivers to destined mailbox.
(Q)How does outbound fax work in a VM only environment?
(A)Same as it does in a UM environment. The desired document(DOC, BMP, PDF, HTML, TIF, TXT) is emailed to the unity fax mailbox w/ the subject line containing the words [FAXPHONE=xxxx]. The unity rendering engine scans the dedicated mailbox, renders into a .tif format and sends out to T.37 fax capable IOS gateway..
