[cisco-voip] ATA--- Faxing

I'm using SCCP too. The full audio mode string is 0x00120012.

I don't know what it means (I think each of the 32 bits has its own
meaning). I imagine my value is different from yours because you're in the
US and I'm in Europe.

Good luck

Vincent

PS: and since my last mail, a new ATA/fax problem popped up. Sigh.

Thanks for the info.. I will be checking with Xerox. I'm not seeing any
slips on the PRI's going to the PSTN.

I will be checking on the ECM and SuperG3.

Gateway is not using fax relay.

I'm running SCCP, so what is audio mode 0x00350035?

Thanks

Scott

Scott,

things are not yet completely clear for me on this, but with the recent
fax/ATA problems I encountered, I would suggest to check the following
things:

1.	slips on the PRI (clocking mismatch)
2.	disabling ECM on the fax - if it can be disabled - might help
3.	disabling SuperG3 (= 33.6 kbps) - again: if it can be disabled - can
help too (had this recently on a "Xerox something centre" too)

Other two things from my supplier that I haven't been able to check
personally:

*	check that the gateway is configured for fax pass-through, because
ATA modules do not support fax relay
*	mode 1 (audio mode in ATA = 0012) is more reliable than mode 2
(audio mode = 0015) for SuperG3 faxes

Indeed, ATA modules are not supposed to work at speeds above 14.4 kbps
(although they might).

Note that we operate in Belgium (Europe), so YMMV.

Please let us know your findings. Any idea is good to take in the Holy War
Against Faxes.

Vincent

I know someone posted something about this not to long ago, but I'm running
into an issue.

I'm running CM 3.3.4sr2 and ata186's (ATA186-I1-A). I have a fax machine
(Xerox something centre) that is able to fax locally (says the end user) but
is having issues faxing long distance and faxes coming in have issues of not
coming in. They have had Xerox out a couple of times and they are asking
about the lines. I have other Xerox's in the building that no one has
complained about. The ATA's are still fairly new, but I'm using them for
dialup and faxing and for the most part not having issues.

Any ideas? I have three PRIs to Qwest. My remote site that has a PRI to
Verizon has also said they have issues with faxing to 1 800 numbers.

Thanks for any help.

Scott

PS. What speed can the ATA support? I think the Xerox's have been set to
14.4
