My understanding is you CAN NOT span over a WAN link.
Work Around.... get fiber to the remote location.

Subject: [cisco-voip] SPAN ports
We need to configure a SPAN port on some switch for call
monitoring/recording purposes. This switch is part of some IPCC
installation and its role is to connect WAN routers [remote sites] to
the core switches.
Network engineers who want to configure the SPAN port say that they
can not configure Voice VLANs over such switchs (WAN switches) and we
need such VLAN to reduce the traffic over the SPAN port and ignore the
irrelevant data packets.
My question is there a way to create the Voice VLAN over such
switches? If yes,. could you please help me with ideas on how to do
it? If not, could you please suggest any workarounds to filter only
for voice traffic.
Regards,
Rami
