You could swing them through a Unity server and have it ask if the
person
should be allowed to join. That might accomplish the same thing, but
that
would only work on MeetMe conferences.
I guess the question is: why are you trying to limit the number of
people
per conference? Maybe there is a different or better way to accomplish
the
same thing.

With the CM software CFB you are only limited by the max number of
conference participants total. By default in 4.1(3) it is 48 and note
that
this is completely independent of the number of
conferences. Ignoring the max-participants you could have one
conference of 40 people and two conferences of 4 people and the server
would
be out of resources.

Not from what experience shows. Also, the help file specifically
refers to the number of participants. I wish we could limit the
number of conference calls. This way, we could have deployed
conference calling on a CallManager without worry of to many

Maximum Ad Hoc Conference :This parameter specifies the maximum
number of participants that are allowed in a single ad hoc
conference. The value of this field depends on the capabilities of
software/hardware conference bridge; for example, the capability
software conference bridge can be up to 64. Warning: CTI applications
do not support more than 16 participants. So although an Ad Hoc
conference can support more than 16 participants, the participants
list used by CTI applications will display only the 16 most recent
conference participants.
This is a required field.
Default: 4.
Minimum: 3.
Maximum: 64.
Maximum MeetMe Conference Unicast :This parameter specifies the
maximum number of participants that are allowed in a single Unicast
Meetme Conference. The value of this field depends on the
capabilities of software/hardware conference bridge; for example, the
capability of software conference bridge can be up to 128. Specifying
a value less than 3 allows upto 3 participants
This is a required field.
Default: 10.
Minimum: 1.
Maximum: 128.

HI Lelio,
As far as I know, the two options in CallManager service parameters
are to limit the number of conference, NOT the number of member/
participant in a conference. Please correct me if i am wrong. thanks

service parameters > Cisco CallManager > CTRL-F & look for 'ad hoc' >
the second or third should be "Maximum Ad Hoc Conference"
Just below it should be the meet me conference maximum.
