You can directly point the polycom via H.323 to CallManager by dialed
number, or use a gatekeeper to handle the call routing. Either way, you
need to define a trunk, or h.323 phone device to represent the H.323
device to callmanager for call routing.

Other than the exorbitant price tag, the problem with this phone is that
it does not support H.323 for signaling so if I want to integrate it
with the rest of my legacy video conferencing infrastructure it has to
be done through a SCCP to H.323 gateway. I hate that it requires you to
purchase more equipment; it sounds like a good enough reason NOT to buy
it to me.

No. I've been using one on my desk for several months now (internal
cisco trial). It has a magnetically actuated hook switch - completely
different than any of the other phones.
