I typically remove hostnames and stick to IPs under CCM enterprise parameters to prevent DNS lookup issues too. If you believe it is a QoS issue and are implementing QoS try a "show policy-map <outbound map name> interface <interface>" to show how your QoS is treating traffic. If no QoS is applied, you should check your interfaces for tail-drop caused by congestion. Are other network applications expiriencing problems? One sign on congestion on a non-QoS'd network is TCP synchronization. You will notice bandwidth utilization on an interface forming a steady percentage wave i.e. 50% to 60% to 80% then back down to 50% to 60% to 80%. This would be a steady cycle because all TCP traffic flows would hit a bandwidth available max together then the streams would all window down 50% at the same time. You can also use the "show interface summary" for show packets dropped on the input or output queues and utilization. If the interface is congested and you need to determine the
traffic causing from the CLI the "ip nbar protocol discovery" command applied to the interface may assist you in analyzing what traffic is passing through and interface followed by the global exec command "show ip nbar protocal-discovery interface <interface>" You should give NBAR discovery time to analyze the traffic before you execute the command. Good luck.

I believe that I've fixed the "Corporate Directory: Requesting Data" issue. The reverse lookup pointer in the DNS server was removed, which resulted in DNS timeouts for the requesting server. I added it back on and the speed is back. Hopefully the issue doesn't resurface...

Subject: [cisco-voip] Corporate Directory: Requesting Data
Any suggestions for the following scenerio?
I've previously accessed the corporate directory without any problem, but within the past week, it takes a considerable amount of time after selecting corporate directory before it comes up, duging which time the 7940 displays requesting data...
Also some random calls have been getting dropped, not sure if it's related.
Is it an issue with QoS? Why would it work before without problems but acting up now? Time to reboot?! We have 2 CallManager 4 servers.
Thanks!
