I just upgraded 22 new 7920s with no problem with CCME 4.0 (IOS
12.4.9T1). 2 would not upgrade their firmware until a reboot. I guess
they needed to be registered first for whatever reason. In my case I
setup 2 SSIDs and vlans. Once with an SSID of cisco and no WEP (Phones
default profile) so the phone could upgrade it's code. Then a 2nd with
the real SSID. This way all I did was slap the batteries into the
phones and leave them alone. Then once the phones were upgraded I would
push the network profile to the phones with the 7920 utility software
and the cradle. The default image shipped would not let me push the
profile to the phone without an error. It took less of my time this way
than upgrading the firmware using the cradle as well as pushing down the
config.
Here is the relevant parts for my 7920 and 7941G phones.

Subject: [cisco-voip] Upgrade firmware on 7920 in CME environment: IS
IT IMPOSSIBLE?

Does anyone know how is this possible? Where are the exact files that i
have to share in
a 2801 router for example running CME 4.0(3)?
I have never succeed to do this!!
The documentation of cisco for these operations for 7920, 7941g-ge etc
is very poor i think.
