I think you hit the nail on the head. This is exactly what I told management after reviewing our 6608 deployment. It's just point and click.

All I can say is that MGCP is almost moron proof (no offense) for simply installations. But H323 on the other hand lends to much more flexibility/features, which also lends to more complex configurations and know how.

Over satellite links, I'm told that MGCP has faster call setup. When one has to do down and dirty call troubleshooting, I'm told that H.323 is an absolute winner. Well perhaps, I can say from first hand experience. And with H.323, gateway diagnostics are much better, when you get into a bind. I've got a few tools at http://www.oneunified.net/blog/Cisco/index.blog that are based upon the H.323 experience. And based upon a few tricks of the peer-mask trade, I much prefer the H.323 route when configuring voice gateways.

Yes, I'm biased. I look forward to hearing from those that are MGCP biased.

Probably http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/ps6441/prod_configuration_guide09186a0080565f8a.html gets you close to the documentation you request.

  Ray.

Anyone have any pointers to a Cisco document that explain the difference between MGCP and H323? Namely, what features are available with one or the other?
