[cisco-voip] Unity 4.2 FailoverConfig.exe

I ran a sniffer trace when running failoverconfig.exe, it showed the
application doesn't do a NBT (WINS/NBNS) or any other type of request
via packets. It appears to only be relying on the Browser service which
is poor application design. Browsing has been troublesome since WFW
3.1, thus Active Directory replaced browsing.

We created two subnets on different 6509s with L3 between them for the
SQL Data Stores (which easily breaks browsing) forcing me to use WINS
which failoverconfig.exe doesn't look at.

Not sure how this can be fixed. TAC is researching this.

We're having this exact same problem with 4.0. Tried a number of things
like you said LMHOSTS, making sure DNS was working etc to no avail.
going to start up on it again after the new year when everyone involved
is back from vacation. If we figure anyway around it i'll post to the
list.

It appers the failoverconfig.exe wants to use Windows browsing to find
the Secondary Server. It's not showing up on the browse list. It is
reachable via Start, Run, \\server2 (DNS of course). Is there a way to
setup failoverconfig.exe without having to rely on WINS/NBNS for
resolution? I tried a LMHOSTS file but the failoverconfig.exe still
doesn't see its partner.
