[cisco-voip] SIP phones, Call Manager 4.0 running SCCP....

CCM 5.0 will support SIP on the line side natively, and will support
generic SIP phones so you can register directly to the CCM. Anything
prior to 5.0 requires you to setup a separate SIP proxy/registrar and
trunk via CCM and the SIP infrastructure. Bear in mind, if you do this
an MTP will be required for every call to and from your SIP
infrastructure. If you choose to do this with 4.x, check out SIP
Express Router (http://www.iptel.org/ser/). It won't be supported by
Cisco but it should work.

Best regards,

Louis

CallManager 4.0 and 4.1 generally support SIP trunking and that's all
for now. I hear CM 5 is supposed to support SIP, but I cannot verify
that.

I can't see any way of directly linking that phone to CallManager right
now, unless you want to build your own SIP server etc and trunk it to
the CM.

	hiya--

I have a Zyxel wireless SIP phone that someone has loaned me to
try out..

Is there a way I can configure this phone to use SIP on a
standard CCM running 4.0?
	We normally run SCCP....

I know Cisco has a SIP Proxy server, but I don't know if that's
a separate product line, an added option for CCM, or whether I even need
that...

(maybe it's a smaller thing for those who don't want to go as
far up as CCM, and CCM includes that somewhere inside it...)

	Tim???
