[cisco-voip] Voice Gateway issue

what protocol does the gateway use to communicate to callmanager?
mgcp or h323?

what do you mean by 'reset the port'?

if mgcp need to make sure the gateway and port are still registered
to CallManager. look at mgcp endpoint in ccmadmin pages and look at
'show mgcp' on the gateway. if still registered grab a 'show tech'
and 'show voice trace' from the router then 'reset' the gateway and
copy off all ccm traces, zip the traces, open a TAC case, attach the
traces. we need to see the last messaging to/from the fxs port
before it stopped working.

if h323 need to see state of port like 'show voice trace' for that port.

handgranade approach would be to just upgrade the router to something
newer. I believe Scott or Erick just recently recommended a good
12.3T code on this list.

Hi Everybody,

We have a problem with a Cisco 1760 voice gateway that I hope someone
can
help us with. We are running CCM 4.02 sr2b. The gateway in question
is in
one of our smaller buildings. The router IOS version is 12.2(14.5)T. The
router has 2 FXO ports and 2 VWIC FXS ports. We have a Valcom overhead
paging unit connected to one of the FXS ports. Here's the problem:

Approximately every two weeks, sometimes more often, when they
attempt to
make their closing announcement, the paging unit doesn't function -
either
rings but never connects or gives a fast busy when they dial the
extension.
Each time this happens, I reset the port and it starts working. This
problem
is totally intermittent and therefore can't be reproduced. The unit
works
just fine most of the time. We've monitored the gateway, reviewed
logs, etc
after the failures, but can't find anything wrong there. We had someone
check the Valcom unit dipswitch settings and the jumper that controls
the
timeout was not set to default. That was corrected, but the problem has
occurred twice since. We have two or three other Valcom units set up the
same way and they function without failures.

Does anyone have suggestions about how to track this one down? Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks,
