[cisco-voip] Extension mobility questions CM4.1

1.	You cannot reprogram the softkeys in this fashion. You can do
several other things: (a) reprogram the Services key to go straight to the
EM login URL or (b) reprogram another line key to do this and label it as
such, if you have spare line keys that is.
2.	If you are speaking about backgrounds on a 7970 or other similarly
capable phone, then no. This setting is locally significant, meaning it
doesn't have anything to do with the phone configuration on CM, and is
stored strictly on the phone itself. The same thing applies to ringers.
3.	Speed dials need to be set for both the user's primary phone, AND
their User Device Profile (UDP). CM sees each of these as separate devices,
with discrete settings available for each. The user can sync both of these
devices themselves (in ccmuser) if you have associated both devices with
their login.
4.	Not sure what you mean by "default line" here. When a user logs in
the phone should reset and receive the line appearances as specified in the
UDP you chose for that user. If you are referring to the number string at
the very top, not associated with any buttons (the external phone mask),
this can be set by enabling a mask on the first line in the UDP.
5.	The phone does load these files, but you are correct they do not
exist anywhere on the server. When the TFTP service starts it builds a cnf
file within system memory for each phone built in the database. You will
notice that systems with large numbers of phones built will CPU spike when
this service is re/started. It copies anything in the TFTPpath folder to
memory as well and offers these files for download. So when you need to
manually change a file in the TFTPpath directory, you also need to restart
the TFTP service in order for it to see the change.

Hope this helps, Fred

Subject: [cisco-voip] Extension mobility questions CM4.1

I have a couple of questions on Extension mobility for CM 4.1.3.

1. Would it be possible to add a login and logout softkey at the bottom to
launch straight into the user login page.

bypassing having to press services and then extension mobility to get there?

2. Is ext mobility able to utilize the same background image that is on the
user primary phone?

3. After enabling extension mobility there is no need to enter speed dial
into the CM phone setup page, everything is done through the ccmuser login
page?

4. I have setup the ext mobility and when I login to the phone, the
existing line of the phone is maintained on the line display.

Is there a way that the phone number of the default line can be removed when
the user logs in.

5. I have read the phone loads a SEP*.cnf.xml file to get its config, out
of curiousity I have searched for these files on the

call manager server and cannot find them anywhere? Where are they?

Thanks

Bob
