[cisco-voip] Unity .vs. Exchange 12

I just talked to an engineer from MS.

You will have to have a IP Based Phone System in which Exchange 2007 will be SIP based.

It provides an access method to your email, calendar, etc..

You will have a PIN to access your mailbox and options.

It does NOT include CallHandling Options as like press 1 for this 2 for that. It can do name or number lookup. It does not do follow me feature.

The example he gave was this:
A Manager schedules a meeting with 6 people so all the attendees get their meeting request and accept.

The manager the, on the day of the meeting, is running late and calls into the VM system and says "I am running 15 minutes late for the meeting". The system picks up on key words and then sends out a predefined email that he will be 15 minutes late for the meeting.

I haven't seen anything about their feature specs but just curious if they will support things like.....
- Voicemail networking
- MWI
- Different codecs
- Transcoding
- TUI emulators

..... to name a few.

There may be some cool features to begin with... it will be interesting to see how it will initially fit in as an enterprise wide voicemail system.

" Unified messaging - voice mail and faxes in your mailbox " that is what I'm hoping to find out more about... what isn't clear is will this just integrate somehow with existing VM systems, or will Exchange become a VM system (with appropriate hardware installed, etc)._______________________________________________
