[cisco-voip] CME calling name

I spent some time investigating this. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I've got anything slighty ajar.
Some background. In the U.S. the calling name is presented to the called party by the called party's service provider via SS7 database lookups. Meanwhile, in Canada, the calling name is presented to the called party by the calling party's service provider.
While CallManager can be configured to 'allow calling party name' out PRIs, the value used is the same calling party name used for internal calls. There is no option in CallManager to override the internal calling party name with an enterprise calling party name - it is expecting the PSTN to do that for you. Unfortunately, in Canada, the PRI service model does not allow for that. Supposedly, it does, but the service providers have not paid the licencing fees or something like that.
Anyways, I'm not sure how much of this translates to CME, but it might be a start.
If you're looking for the internal calling name to be passed, check the system parameters (or equiv) on CME. If you're looking for an enterprise parameter, ask your SP if they can override it.
Good Luck

Subject: [cisco-voip] CME calling name
Hi list,
Would it be possible to configure a CME to actually pass calling name to
an outgoing PRI? If so, can someone please enlighten me on how? :)
Best regards,
/M
