[cisco-voip] Unity networking

My answer to Scott's question was based on my own experience since I had
had the same problem twice. I had spent many hours researching NetPro,
with TAC, running ADSIEdit etc. and ended up removing those entries from
the GlobalLocation table which TAC had also suggested.

Since Scott Voll is an experienced VOIP expert, my assumption was that
his current Unity 4.0(5) works OK and the Uninstaller utility
successfully completed. If this is correct, than probably his location
objects became orphaned or stranded, and to get rid of these
stranded/orphaned objects is through SQL.

BTW, when you make a change in an SQL table this change becomes the last
highest synced USN, so this change will propagate into AD and not vice
versa. So there is no chance this change will come back on the next AD
sync (at least never came back to me since I had made this change a
couple of years ago).

Woah there. You could remove the entry from the global location table,
but, besides the risk of manually editing this, you're not really
addressing the problem, and there's a decent chance it will come back on

the next AD sync. The uninstaller should remove the location object from

AD. Unity will see this and remove it's entry from the Global Location
table. For any servers you can't run the uninstaller on, you can view
your location objects in ADSIedit and find which is for which server by
viewing the CiscoEcsbuUmServer attribute (will be the hostname of the
server) and delete accordingly. Once the location object(s) have been
removed, they should get removed from the table on the next sync. If
not, or if you're impatient, you might want to try forcing a sync from
the DC/GC tool. If they're still there after that, you're going to need
to figure out why Unity isn't syncing with AD properly which, you know,
is kind of important...
