It works, you just have to use forwarded call routing rules in Unity.
It is part of our standard deployment procedure for Unity.

Are you trying to create a solution that only prompts the user for a
password, and that's all?
I'm not sure that's going to be possible because unless the user is
calling
in from the same number, as another member has pointed out already,
Unity
has no idea which number you're calling about. In this scenario, the
user
has to press *[extension]#[password]#.
I've gotten that to work in the past by using a Translation Patter that
matches the external number and routes it to the Pilot Point.
