It seems to me that I've also seen transient errors when the phone template
selected does not match the actual phone type. I also believe I seen these
when using ATA's and you don't have the second port of the ATA configured.

I think a transient connection attempt is just a phone that either cannot
register or having some kind of connectivity problem. I'm sure there is a
specific set of conditions where this could get put into the log but I don't
know what they are :)
I don't know of any BIOS or OS bugs that would cause that, but I suppose its
possible.

The customer didn't tell me that he had 3 phones that could not register
because he hadn't configured them for CCM.
But,i had some issues in the past. Could this behaviour explained by not
applying a specific OS upgrade to the MCS (a bug in a bios firmware or
something like this?).
What are other reasons for transient connection attempts?
