[cisco-voip] CME vs CM

Thought I throw in a plug for CME.
CME runs on a router that runs IOS, typically these days that's an ISR router. These routers are inexpensive and have lots of connectivity options with a large choice of WIC, VIC, NM, and other card form factors. CME has a companion product called Unity Express which gets you voice mail either on flash (AIM-CUE) or on a hard disk (NM-CUE). You can use the same 79xx phones as CM and if necessary you could also use regular analog phones. The phone system is a large number of features, but not a large as CM, however there are a few features that CME has that CM doesn't. You get analog, SIP, and H.323 connectivity. CME has a pretty nice basic automated attendant system and call distribution capabilities.
If you have a small 10-150 phone office you can make a nice ISR system that has data, voice, and voice-mail all on a single router, at a very low cost. For example at 2821 or 2851 ISR with AIM-CUE for smaller sites or a 3825/3845 with NM-CUE for larger sites.
I think CME is under appreciated. Cisco doesn't seem to push it.
Best,
leb
