I've seen something nutty and similar. In Tampa Florida, you have area
code 813 and the next county over is 727 (which is still local). You
can still dial seven digits in this entire area. Someone at the telco
decided it would be a good idea to release numbers starting with 727 in
the 813 area code. I.e., 813-727-XXXX. Talk about making things a
mess. It would of course be certain that someone important had a phone
in the 813-727-xxxx range, so how exactly do you allow people to call
this number without having to wait for the interdigit timeout while it
waits for the other three digits? It's an all or nothing arrangement
with your T302 timer.

I use www.nanpa.com -> Search for Area Codes to see where I have 7D vs
10D vs 11D dialing for a particular area code.
