I'm guessing had I bought the VWIC-2MFT-G703 for my Voice E1 in Malaysia
I wouldn't need the adapters?

It would do and was what I was recommending earlier, I'm slightly
surprised the E1 is presented to you as Male BNC, all the (British) BT
ISDN NTEs I've seen present as Female BNC on the unit to which you then
attach your own BNC cables which is possibly why the Cisco part is the
incorrect gender, it would normally be connected directly to the NTE.
Google turned up a company called Tekmos (which I've not dealt with
myself) who seem to supply a combined cable
http://www.tekmos.co.uk/balun/tkcc703.shtml
but again the BNC connectors are Male so you'd still be stuck from the
gender point of view.
David.
