Great info everyone, really appreciate it. It must be due to the new
version of the camera in which I am using. Previously I had the
original cameras and I know they did not work with other software. I
never tried other cameras with the cisco software however.
I never did mind the idea of being stuck having to purchase cisco
cameras to work with the cisco software as the price for these things
is very reasonable, particularly for a cisco product. :-)
The one thing I did not like was the fact that a couple of years ago
for someone to want to make a video call with say MSN messenger they
would need a camera for that and a camera for the cisco side of things
which seemed impractical.
Internally we use MS Communicator for IM, and its very widely used
throughout the enterprise. I would be interested to see if MS
Communicator supports making video calls because that would truly add
some value to the video component internally. One camera working with
both the Cisco side of things and the IM side of things.
I am very interested in the idea of using some of the other logitech
cameras like the notebook camera due to its low profile.
Again thanks for all the info people!
