Fixed Mobile Convergence.

Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator consists of two main software
components: Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage and Cisco Unified Mobile
Communicator. Together they deliver a tightly integrated and secure
end-to-end solution.
Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage is server software deployed behind your
enterprise firewall that connects employees' mobile phones to your
directory servers, IP Communications system, groupware, and conferencing
servers as well as to other company resources, extending critical
business communications capabilities to mobile handsets and allowing
everyone to communicate more effectively.
Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator runs on standard mobile phones and
smartphones. It provides an easy-to-use, graphical interface that lets
you manage powerful communications features simply by scrolling and
selecting. Web-based installation wizards assist end users with
downloading and provisioning software to their handsets over the air,
eliminating the need for costly cables and additional installation
hardware.

Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator is installed on Mobile Phones. It
requires a data plan from the provider and communicates with CallManager
and Presence server with the cellular data network.

Using Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator, employees can do the following:
* Access up-to-date company and personal directory information.

* View the busy and available status of colleagues.

* Securely send text messages to reach people even when they are busy.

* Receive and play back office voicemail messages on a mobile handset;
"visual voicemail" lets you view a list of messages on the display and
select the one you want to play back with a press of a button.

* Conference and collaborate through integration with the Cisco Unified
MeetingPlace solution.

* Access recent call histories on mobile handsets so you know who called
and when, even if the call was originally made to your office phone.

I'd have to say that unified messaging + all in one device + network
transitioning + cheap price would do it for me.

I'd like to be able to have one device, not just one number that I can
use whether in the office, in the home or on the road.

I am curious to know what technologies others are excited about
or
looking forward to in the future. Particularly as they relate
to VoIP
and Video and more specifically as they relate to Cisco as we
are a
	pure Cisco shop.

If there is something that you know is coming that your really
excited
about from either a technological perspective or something that
will
help your business in some way and you can't wait to implement
it I
would be very curious to hear about it and why you feel the way
you
	do.

I will start with one of the things I find fascinating. The
idea of
extending ones office extension to a mobile phone. I believe
this
already exists but its pretty new and still has its issues. I
know
Cisco was working with Blackberry for instance on what I assume
to be
a SIP based application for the blackberry that works with
CallManager. It does excite me to think about the day when you
have
one device that truly works for both your office phone and
mobile.
