Dear Syed,

Yes you can, and the installation Media itself installs the OS; you do not need to install any OS inside the VMware guest Machine, you simply start installing CCM6 from the DVD into a fresh VM guest.

However, it is certainly a good idea to tell VMware that you want to create a Linux Red Hat Guest Machine When you create the new machine, as I hear that CUCM6 OS is special version of Red Hat.

You do not need any Hack or License to install a working copy… as it comes with 50 DLUs when installed”.

I read somewhere that the minimum Virtual Disk Size is 30GB, I set it to 72GB SCSI and it only needed around 7GB for minimum options (Cisco ships the Business Edition Server with 250GB HDD). I used 512MG of RAM, but you can give more or less depending on your needs (Cisco ships the Business Edition Server with 6GB of RAM).

One important thing to note… I am not sure, but it seems that there is nothing you can do inside the VM Guest Machine (CUCM6) but starting it and shutting it down. All configurations is done by your Internet browser from another Machine on the network (in my case from my host Machine)… Hence it is very important to put that in mind when you configure its IP address during installation.

I hope you will find this info to be useful.

With best regards,
Ashraf Al-Dabbas
