Jeff,
In CCM 5 and 6 the only easy way to get CDR is to use the "Billing
server" configuration that will export the CDR data in near real-time in
flat ASCII *.CSV files.
If not you have to do some special web programming with AXL API since
you can't talk directly to CCM5 or 6's database.

Cliff,
We have the Linux-based, appliance version of CCM 5.x.
I thought with all the changes that Cisco probably changed the database
structure as well. So, I knew I'd have to modify by reports somewhat to
accommodate those differences (once I can get to the CDR database
again!!). I am using real-time queries. But, I don't recall doing
anything "special" to establish the original link on CCM 3.x or CCM 4.x.
What needs to be done on the other end (I'm guessing you mean on the
server side)?
Thanks!!
Jeff

Jeff,
You're going to need to get your admins involved. There are two
different
versions of CCM 5x out there...Windows and appliance version. You
didn't
indicate which one you have.
In order for your link from crystal to work, you'll have to have
something
on the other end set up to talk to it. Also, Crystal compiles the
connection information in with the reports (assuming you're doing real
time
queries to build them). That means it is likely that they will need to
be
modified and updated as well.
This isn't a one or two command solution in all likelihood (I actually
can't
think of any solution that would be here). You're going to need to get
other folks involved to help you if these things are outside your area
of
responsibility and/or expertise.

We upgraded a couple months ago to CCM 5.1 from v.4.3. We contracted
with Coleman Technologies to do this upgrade for us. Everything went
smoothly until I tried to run some of my customized reports written in
Crystal Reports (v.8). I knew the database changed (after all, it's a
different version, on new hardware and running on a different OS), but I
can't get anyone to tell me how to get my link back in CR for the CDR
database. I'm not the CCM admin or anything, and I don't want/need to
do that (we have someone who handles this responsibility). I simply
want to know how to get a connection (drive mapping in Windows, ODBC,
etc.) in CR for the call detail records on the new CCM server! Coleman
Technologies and Cisco TAC simply sent me a link to read about API's and
stuff, but I'm not a partner or developer - I just want my simple (but
useful) reports to work again. I would like to have the easiest, most
straight-forward way (hopefully 1 or 2 lines/commands) to get my link to
the database and rebuild my reports.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
