Thanks for the suggestion ... I tried it, but it seems not to have much effect.

A wild guess: try putting the line
<loadInformation>SIP11.8-3-4SR1S</loadInformation>
into SEP001F9EAD149D.cnf.xml (right after versionStamp).
I remember a while ago having done this for a 7971G.
