[cisco-voip] PLAR with ata 186?

Beautiful answers all! I had forgotten it has to be done via CSS and
trans patterns, I was mistakenly thinking there was a field in the ATA
settings that I had missed.

I did a quick search before I posted this message and found some Cisco
article that appeared to state that PLAR with the ATA186 was only
possible if I went to SIP or H.323. Which prompted me to enter a TAC
and ask you guys :)

Happy Holidays to all!

I've had trouble with PLAR on ata's.. they work but when the call gets
hung up it had a tendency to dial again long enough to ring once. Not
sure if it has something to do with on-hook timer or what. We tinkered
with the parameters available via the web interface on the ATA but
couldnt get it working correctly. Ended up using a PLAR port on a VG248
instead, works fine. FXS ports on VG224 also work well, I have
ring-downs off of them all over the place - FXS port in a router should
be exactly the same if that's what you have available.

Might be worth trying if you have time to troubleshoot it.. we were
kinda in crunch mode and only had time for some cursory troubleshooting
before we resorted to putting in a VG. i'm not going to have time to
revisit that particular phone until basketball season is over ><

Hey all,

I'm trying to connect a front door intercom device. The unfortunate
thing is that it does not have a dialer on it, it simply goes off hook
and provides it's own ring tone.

Do I have to make this an FXO port or can I make PLAR do what I need in
order to get this to ring the front desk so they can begin talking?
