[cisco-voip] CM upgrade to 6.x

We are going to be upgrades our HW and SW to CM 6.x and Unity 5.x.
Current configuration: 1 CMPub 4.x, 1 CMSub 4.x, 1 Unity 4.x; 7 locations - all have 2800 series routers, 3 locations have Voice Trunks
All locations access the core VoIP servers via ATM, Ethernet over Fiber, or T1 lines.
We have SRST on the routers.

A few of the locations are remote and have about 100 phones per location. What I'm hoping to do is keep using the 4.x CM Subscriber at one of remote locations, in case of network outages. Is 6.x backwards compatible? Can this be done?
