They just want to make it as hard as possible

I think the way the docs refer to the CDs / DVDs one need to install
also sucks in some cases and the sometimes don't even reference the
correct disk in the installation guide.

It would be far easier if the disks were numbered -- disk 1 , disk 2,
disk3 etc

And the install guide read -- please insert disk 1 now, later - please
insert disk 2 now etc

Yeah, that's right, Cisco forgot to ship the data store disc... they
sent it in a separate packet...

OK, open a TAC case and scream bloody murder until they post the ISO.
