Ask the TAC SE for the bug id, you can then lookup the details on CCO.
Both phone loads and gateway DSPWare can have defects.

Hello,

 

We have about 1000 or more 7940 phones across the offices. One of our
remote markets is having phone issues where the voices fade out or there
is static on the line. We have tested out the circuits, checked the
cabling and also replaced the hardware. While working with TAC, they
told us that there is a bug on the application load on the 7940 phones.
Has anyone heard about this?
