I've had peripheral contact with CCM users who treated the CCM box as a
"PC" rather than a phone switch - and thus wanted to use PC utilities
(like vmware) for redundancy and failover.

They'd then be able to do all the useful things VMWare gives you -
resource control, snapshotting, backups, access to redundant storage,
live migration, etc - rather than treating the box as a phone switch and
clustering them at that level.
