Hello,
You should be aware of the new device licensing policy started on CCM/UCM 5.0. The licenses each device consumes depend on the device type: i.e, 7941s consume 4 DLs (device licenses) and 7911s cosume 3 DLs.
So, if you have 500 7911s, you will need 3 * 500 = 1500 DL units and not 500 DLs.
Please, review the whole DL at http://tinyurl.com/2gjn4j . The list doesn't contain the latest model (7965, 7945, etc.) but they consume the same number of DL as the parent model (4 for both models).
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Carles

I went through this last week.
#2 is the licence for CM6.0 pub/sub for the appliance you just bought. The 500 seats is a description as to the total number of maximum seats it supports (or suggestion thereof). This gives you no device licences and hence you would not be able to attach any phones.
#3 is where you are able to start adding phones.

Subject: [cisco-voip] Help required regarding CCM 6.0 licenses!!!
Hi to all,
Can any one clarify the following license requirements for CCM 6.0
1- MCS7816I3-K9-CMB1 Unified CM 6.0 7816-I3 Appliance, 0 Seats
2- LIC-CM6.0-7816= License CM 6.0 7815 Appliance, 500 seats
3- LIC-CM-DL-500= Unified CM Device License - 500 units
What I understood is:
Number 1 is for the hardware appliance.
Number 2 for User Licenses
Number 3 for Device (phones) Licenses
What is the difference between number 2 and 3? Both are required if I have 500 phones?
Regards,
Syed Khalid Ali
