I don't think the 7941's shipped with the wideband handset.  You
mentioned it sounds normal when you use the handset from a 7941.  Have
you tried the new handset on an old phone to see if your issue follows
the handset?

Yes, thanks for the docs but have you listened to it? I am not hearing
the following benefits:

 

  Richer and clearer sound than narrowband 

? Enhanced speech quality and speaker recognition

? Excellent voice quality for both wideband and narrowband calls
