[cisco-voip] replacing VG224 - not as simple as swapping out MACaddress?

Did this at a client recently. SCCP VG224s aren't done the same way as 248s. You change the MAC in the CCMAdmin page, not on the chassis. You change it once in ccmadmin to reflect the new MAC address for the chassis under it's gateway configuration and...bob's your uncle. =-D

If I had to guess, the problem may be that the MAC addresses used by the
individual VG224 ports (at least in SCCP mode) may not auto-update,
necessitating changing the device name for all of the ports individually.
