I'm not sure of the exact version, but the credential command is recommended on 4.x and above. i.e. 12.4(11)XW9 has great support for the credential command (which is hidden btw, so you want get any context based help from the sip-ua sub menu)

Here is an example from netpro:

sip-ua
credentials username 964812503 password 091D175D49545D435A5D5169 realm beta.awa

tracking back through netpro, the earliest mentions of credential are from September 2006.  I think IOS for 3.2 is much earlier than that, most like 2003 - 2004.

May need to upgrade. HTH
