[cisco-voip] hardware requirements !!!

hi guys..

thanx on your opinion, but i'm pretty aware of strict requirements policy
regarding HW..

and i'm personally the last person who would buy and recommend something
besides cisco MCS..

the issue is rather complicated in company we're dealing with..and i don't
want go into that..

so, this is a simple and pure technical question..

if somebody had experience or maybe ryan or wes can say something about it..

personally i don't think there should be any problem with bigger HDs or the
same amount of memory but with 1 x 1 GB + 2x 512 modules instead one of 2 x
1 GB..

but it could be, so i just wanna know did anybody had the same experience..

thanx..

regards..

If it is for production and you expect Cisco to support it then you should
buy exactly the equipment on the list.

If you cant get exactly the same gear, then buy an MCS box.

Cheers,

Tim

hi group..

does anybody knows..

if cisco says that only supported hardware for HP servers is:

Quantity

HP Part Number

Description

1

434769-001*

DL320G4 P950 A1 Server (includes 1 x 1-GB RAM)

1

390824-B21

1GB DDR II 533 MHz/PC2-4200

2

349237-B21

80-GB SATA 1.5-Gb 7,200-RPM Hard Drive (1")

1

374303-B21

DL320G4 DVD-ROM Drive

and if we can buy that hardware only in configuration with:

434769-421

DL320G4 P950 A1 Server (includes 1 x 1-GB RAM)

390825-B21

512 MB DDR II 533 MHz/PC2-4200

349239-B21

250-GB SATA 1.5-Gb 7,200-RPM Hard Drive (1")

374303-B21

DL320G4 DVD-ROM Drive

and as you can see the only difference is:

1. that additional 1 GB of memory is in 2x 512 configuration instead of 1GB

2. hard disks are 250 GB sata instead of 80 GB sata

should it work in hardware detcetion process?..

it should in my opionion but i just need a sanity check..

i hope cisco doesn't check memory slots and HD size..

:-)..

thanx..
