We are running HP Switches at some of our sites and we have to use
external power packs for the 7970's and higher to get full brightness...

Something to do with the power requirement.
I have turned off POE for these particular ports as well.

Subject: [cisco-voip] 7970 displays dim and yellow after 4.1(3)SR8
update
Maybe it's just a coincidence, but it seems that after I applied the
4.1(3)SR8 update I now have not one but two 7970G phones that have
changed from yellow colored settings to white. Additionally the
displays are much dimmer than before and the users are complaining. I
suspect that the issue is due to a newer firmware load SCCP 8.4.1SR1S.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Matt
