[cisco-voip] VG224 problems

I think I misread your post. When you said remove the station side and it starts working again, I thought you moved to another port. We move to another port and that port works for a bit and then stops again. I haven't reset the switch yet, hopefully that fixes things or else it's a few RMAs. :(

I just moved another port from our VG224 #4 to VG224 #5 and it’s working now.

While the fax machine was connected to VG224 #4 it would not work, I could hear dial tone to start with, then gone and the line

sounded like it had noise on it.

After moving the station wires to VG224 #5, it works, made a test call just fine, no noise on the line.

We have recently run into the same problem with our OPX lines. Not sure about the error/log messages though.

I'm eager to know if someone else has seen this.

I have 6 VG224 installed and I am getting mixed results with reliability of service on the ports.

I have many ports that work fine for days and then stop working.

When they stop working there is no dial tone at the ports, it seems like the lines get noisy thus

causing the ports on the VG224 to FXSLS_CONNECT for an extended period of time, timing out, then no dial tone.

On some ports, I can remove the station side and the ports start working again until I connect the station side back again.

I can then move them to a different VG224 with open ports and they will start working again.

On other ports, it didn’t matter that I removed the station side, I still could not get dial tone and it

appeared as if the ports were dead on the VG224, rebooting didn’t help.

Right now I am working with 7 ports that previously worked all last week (1 modem, 5 fax, 1 pots).

Has anyone else had problems like this with the VG224s ?

What can I use to test the lines to ensure they are up to specifications for the VG224s ?

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated, I am tried on playing musical POTS lines on the VG224s.

Thanks

John
